President’s Portfolio

Executive Assistant

Positions available: 1 | Reports to: President

The Executive Assistant assists with logistics and general support for the activities of the CSA Executive Council. They record meeting minutes, distribute them appropriately, and serve as the first line of support in connecting student inquiries with the appropriate contact within the CSA. The Executive Assistant is exposed and involved in many aspects of CSA Executive business.

Advocacy Representative

Positions available: 1 | Reports to: President | Elected Position

The Advocacy Representative is an elected General Council Member who represents the CSA and Asper Undergraduate Students at the University of Manitoba Students’ Union (UMSU) Board of Directors meetings and the University of Manitoba Senate meetings. The Advocacy Representative acts as the liaison between the CSA, UMSU and the University of Manitoba. The Advocacy Representative works with the CSA President to identify the key elements and needs of the Asper Student body, and to advocate for these needs at the monthly University of Manitoba Senate and UMSU Board of Directors Meetings Meetings. The Advocacy Representative is also required to participate in other UMSU or Senate Council standing and ad-hoc committees.

First Year Representative

The First Year Representatives are elected by New-to-Asper School of Business Students in October. With the assistance of their First Year Committee (FYC), The First Year Representatives organize at least one social, and various charity and fundraising events. The First Year Representatives are the liaison between New-to-Asper students and the CSA.

Indigenous Representative

The Indigenous Representative is an ex-officio member of the council filled by the president of the University of Manitoba Indigenous Commerce Students STAG. The International Representative acts as a liaison between Indigenous Asper students, the Indigenous business community and the CSA.

The 2SLGBTQIA+ Representative is an ex-officio member of the council filled by the President of the University of Manitoba Queer/2SGBTQIA+ Students (UMQAS). The 2SLGBTQIA+ Representative acts as a liaison between 2SLGBTQIA+ Asper students, the 2SLGBTQIA+ business community, and the CSA.

Ticketing and Analytics Coordinator

Positions available: 1 | Reports to: Vice President Finance

The Ticketing & Analytics Coordinator is responsible for the management of all aspects of ticketing for CSA events. ticket sales through the CSA’s online ticketing platform. Working closely with the VPF and event planners, the Ticketing & Analytics Coordinator sets up online ticketing for each event and trains event planners and their committees to sell tickets using the system. Additionally, the Ticketing & Analytics Coordinator sets up and manages ticket scanning at each CSA event.

Internal Auditor

The Internal Auditor is responsible for meeting with all Student Action Group (STAG) Finance Directors throughout the year to assist in planning and maintaining budgets. The Internal Auditor will oversee the audit process for all STAG.

Data Coordinator

The Data Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of all financial information systems, keeping accurate records in regards to budgets and operations, and working with the VPF to enhance the CSA’s collection and organization of data.

Manager of Corporate Relations

Managers’ of Corporate Relations (MCRs) develop and maintain strong, long-term, and mutually beneficial relationships between the business community and the CSA and Student Action Groups (STAGs) through administration of the the Corporate Partners Program.

Digital Coordinator

The Digital Coordinator works with the CSA’s Marketing Portfolio to maintain a centralized web presence and coordinate digital signage content for the CSA. They manage the CSA website, CSA email, and file storage accounts.

Content Creator

Positions available: 4 | Reports to: Vice President Marketing and Communications

Content Creators work closely with event planners and the Vice President Marketing and Communications (VPM) to develop a strategic marketing plan for each event or service offered by the CSA. Content Creators develop creative content for all events and services with the exception of those larger events which have their own marketing team.

Merchandise Coordinator

Positions available: 2 | Reports to: Vice President Marketing and Communications

Merchandise Coordinators design and purchase merchandise to be sold in the Commerce Connection Store located in the CSA Office. Merchandise Coordinators recruit and train volunteers to run the store and conduct locker sales in the fall and winter terms.

Social Media Coordinator

The Social Media Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the CSA’s presence on all major social media platforms and assist in coordinating photography/videography as required. The Social Media Coordinator ensures that the CSA’s message is broadcast to the student body in the most effective manner possible while always maintaining the CSA’s professional image.

The External Events Coordinators plan and execute the annual CSA Corporate Golf Tournament, Howard Morry Leadership Conference (HMLC), and Take a Student to Eat (TASTE) program. These events and initiatives are developmental in nature, allowing students to hone their professional skills while having the opportunity to spend time networking with company representatives and senior business leaders.

Case Competition Co-Chair

Case competitions are offered to provide Asper students opportunities to further their case analysis and presentation skills. The Case Competition Co-Chairs plan and execute a minimum of four internal case competitions hosted by the CSA. The Case Competition Co-Chairs lead and support a committee who assists with all aspects of the competitions.

Community Portfolio

5 Days Co-Chair

Positions available: 2 | Reports to: Vice President Community

The 5 Days campaign has two main objectives: to raise awareness for youth experiencing homelessness and to raise funds towards a local organization that helps to combat this issue (Resource Assistance for Youth). The 5 Days Co-Chairs plan and execute numerous fundraising events and initiatives during the winter term, including 5 Days Week. The 5 Days Co-Chairs lead and support the 5 Days Committee.

Shinerama Co-Chair

Shinerama is Canada’s largest post-secondary fundraiser that involves students at over 60 university campuses across Canada raising funds and awareness for cystic fibrosis research. The Shinerama Co-Chairs plan and execute numerous fundraising events and initiatives during the summer and fall term, including Shine Day. The Shinerama Co-Chairs lead and support the Shinerama Committee.

Commerce Socials Co-Chair

Commerce Socials is one of the CSA’s most notable brands and is a strong part of the Winnipeg entertainment industry. Commerce Socials play a key role in the young adult experience of many Manitobans and garner crowds as large as 3500 attendees. The Commerce Socials Co-Chairs manage this brand as well as plan and execute a minimum of three large socials per year.
