Now that you have planned out which courses you are going to take, it’s time to design your schedule and register for the specific sections of your chosen courses. The first thing to do is check your registration time in aurora to see when you are eligible to sign up for courses. Follow these steps to view your registration status.

  1. Log into your Aurora student account
  2. Click “Enrolment & Academic Records”
  3. Select “Registration and Exams”
  4. Click “Registration Time and Status”
  5. Use the drop-down menu to select the Fall 2021 term
  6. View your starting registration date and time and the end of your registration period

Before your registration time, it is important to look into the available sections and times available for the classes you are wanting to take for the Fall 2021/Winter 2022 semesters. Take note of the time of days that will work best and be mindful of any conflicts that may arise. Be sure to note if a lab section is required for a course, as often that can shift your timetable. Make sure to be realistic when planning your schedule; if you’re never able to get up before noon, classes bright and early may not be the best idea! Be sure to check things like classroom location and professor (where applicable) because these things may also have an affect on which sections you sign up for. Also keep in mind that this plan is not a final copy of your timetable. You could arrange a meticulous schedule to find out by your registration date, that some of the sections you had written down are now full! That’s why it never hurts to plan ahead with backups and alternatives, by keeping an eye on aurora prior to your registration to see availability.

Keep In Mind:

  • Availability for courses changes constantly as people add and drop courses, joining a waitlist is always a good option to work towards getting the courses you need.
  • Although planning is important, remember to be flexible and open during registration if your plan has to change for the time being as there are often different options for other sections of the class you can look into.
  • Do not wait to register! Classes can fill up fast so be sure to sign up for your courses as soon as you have the chance!
  • Registration is not necessarily your final timetable, you can still drop courses up until the deadline for refunds and add courses as needed up until the deadline to add courses. If you need to drop after the deadline has passed, voluntarily withdrawing (VW) from a course is always an option.
