Asper Students Leave Their Mark at Rocky Mountain Business Seminar 2018

The Rocky Mountain Business Seminar is Canada’s longest-running and most prestigious student-organized business conference. Hosted at the Jasper Park Lodge, business executives and students from across North America gathered to share their stories and “Leave Their Mark” in accordance with this year’s theme.

RMBS allows for education that you wouldn’t receive inside of a classroom, giving students the chance to learn not only from today’s experienced business leaders, but also through networking with peers from across North America. Throughout the week, we participated in a case competition, numerous networking lunches and dinners, and interactive sessions with various business leaders from across the continent, not to mention attended nightly hospitality suites with our fellow delegates.

This year, delegates Avery Humphries, Aaron Menon, Leah Suderman and Michèle Bernardin heard from the head of IOS keyboards at Apple: Randy Marsden, Managing Director of Individual Investor Services and National Bank Financial: Angus Watt and Catherine Eure, an advisor on branding to many of the world’s largest brands and the past director of marketing for Delta Airlines. Other speakers included Brad Ferguson the President and CEO of Edmonton Economic Development Corporation, and Jared Smith, Principal and Co-Owner of Incite Marketing, among many other distinguished professionals.

These were some of the key takeaways the delegates came away with from the many keynotes, breakout sessions and other activities:

  1. “The Rocky Mountain Business Seminar reinforced my commitment to developing my personal network and keeping positive people close to me. Your circle of influence has a significant impact on the person you become.” – Avery Humphries
  2. “Listening to the hugely successful keynote and session speakers share not only their triumphs in the business world but the struggles that accompanied them, enabled me to visualize my own journey towards success, and define what that truly means to me.” – Leah Suderman
  3. “The conference as a whole really impacted my perspective not only on current affairs, but my future aspirations. The speakers facilitated interactive engagements, allowing delegates to feel the utmost impact of their lessons. I can now clearly see the professional path I want to take, and I look forward to the journey ahead.” – Michèle Bernardin
