Dear readers,
As we head deeper into the summer season, allow me to divulge to you readers about the great, local events shining upon us this summer! I had the honour of interviewing Aishmeen Brar and Kaitlyn Peña, the student organizers of the 22nd Annual Golf Tournament.
Without further ado, I present the July Scoop: Summer, Local Events, and Golf!
Summer with the 22nd Annual Golf Tournament
It’s that time of the year again! The CSA’s annual summer event is back on, bringing you both fun and business. Do you know what it is?
It’s the 22nd Annual Golf Tournament!
Intended to foster a unique link between Asper students and corporate representatives, the 22nd Annual Golf Tournament is the perfect opportunity for students to bring their A-game in both golfing and networking! On August 7, students will get to enjoy a catered lunch and dinner, with a round of 9-hole golf sandwiched between. It’ll be completely held at the Bridges Golf Course.
The 22nd Annual Golf Tournament is a casual event, so even if you’re not the most experienced golfer or networker, attending this event will be sure to be fun and worth your time.
Here are Aishmeen and Kaitlyn, the students bringing this event to life!
Entering her second year of Asper and wishing to double major in Accounting and Business Analytics is Aishmeen Brar, one of two External Events Coordinators of the Asper Commerce Students’ Association (CSA). Having been part of the Junior Achievement program when she was younger, Aishmeen enjoys both the hustle of coordinating events and the social aspects of her roles, which is what led her to Asper, and eventually to the CSA.

Kaitlyn Peña is also entering her second year of Asper, looking into double majoring in Accounting and Finance, and an External Events Coordinator as well. Her passion for volunteering began in high school when she became involved in student council for the four-year duration. For Kaitlyn, it’s no surprise that she would continue planning events and connecting with the community. CSA was the perfect next-step for her to grow her skills.
As a two-person team, Aishmeen and Kaitlyn organize the 22nd Annual Golf Tournament in summer, as well as Take a Student to Eat (TASTE) in fall to early winter. That includes doing tasks such as marketing, budgeting, securing venues, and creating partnerships and connections between students and corporate representatives. Overarching these events are the opportunities for students to hone their professional development skills.
For Aishmeen and Kaitlyn, organizing the 22nd Annual Golf Tournament has been a great experience.
“The resources from past years and our Vice President have been really helpful. It is very exciting to see things fall into place, now that the tournament is approaching.” – Aishmeen Brar, External Events Coordinator 2025-2026
Bridges Golf Course has always been the CSA’s venue partner since the Annual Golf Tournament began over twenty summers ago. As to continue this rich and long-lasting partnership, Bridges Golf Course is the venue for the 22nd year. Additionally, company representatives from organizations such as Richardson, MNP, Western Financial, KPMG, Birchwood, CIBC, Deloitte, PwC, The Associates, and IntegrationWorx will be attending and golfing.
Aishmeen and Kaitlyn are expecting an even split of students and corporate representatives to attend this event. That means that everyone attending will get an equal chance to network and have fun with both students and company representatives alike!
What makes the golf tournament unique as a networking event are the event day hours, casual setting, and catered lunch and dinner. As it runs for six and a half hours from 2:00 pm to 8:30 pm, attendees will get the exclusive opportunity to connect with peers and business professionals in a casual, non-traditional setting of the open-field golf course—and of course, enjoy the catered lunch and dinner!

Look forward to Firehouse Subs, Umaido donuts, and Redbull for lunch and snacks. And if you stick around for the dinner, I hear there may be a delicious buffet catered by the Bridges Golf Course, plus prizes from local Winnipeg businesses for the tournament winners!
This is all to say that the 22nd Annual Golf Tournament is truly one of a kind. It would be a shame to miss out on this if you’re looking to add a sprinkle of fun, good food, and long-lasting connections to your summer, whether it’s with friends or company representatives.
“The golf tournament is the perfect place for students to get a chance to present themselves to corporate reps and open doors to their future.” – Kaitlyn Peña, External Events Coordinator 2025-2026
Aishmeen and Kaitlyn are excited to see the fruits of their labour come together on event day, working out logistics and set-up and seeing everyone connect and build lasting connections!
Tickets to the 22nd Annual Golf Tournament are available for purchase here on Eventbrite. They’re $50.00 plus tax per ticket, and that’s a great deal for the lunch, dinner, golf, and event experience! Be sure to block your calendars and prepare your golfing outfits.
Note that these tickets are only open to Asper students.
